Mariano Velasco Killed in Will County Pedestrian Crash at Cass and Collins Streets
Joliet, Illinois (February 9, 2018) – A 47-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Joliet on Wednesday night, according to a report by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal pedestrian accident happened at around 7:20 p. m. February 7, at the intersection of Cass and Collins Streets.
Mariano H. Velasco, of Joliet, had been walking on a road at the intersection when he was run over by a vehicle.
Velasco was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Information regarding the driver of the involved vehicle was not provided.
An investigation to determine the cause of the deadly collision is ongoing.
