On Saturday, July 21, Lyle E. McMilin was killed in an accident on US 65 Northbound at Route V. Richard R Long, 70, was injured in the same accident.
The accident began at approximately 3:30 pm when Mr. Long attempted to overtake Mr. McMilin and struck Mr. McMilin’s vehicle, ejecting Mr. McMilin from his vehicle. Mr. Long’s vehicle then struck Mr. McMilin’s person.
According to the official Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Mr. McMilin was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr. Long was taken by ambulance to Bothwell Hospital for his injuries.
