In the evening hours of Thursday, August 2nd, Mr. Kevin W. Dawson was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on I-470 at the US-50 intersection in Jackson County.
The accident began at approximately 8 pm when a Toyota Corolla operated by Ms. Haleigh Bowlin hit Mr. Dawson. Ms. Bowlin apparently failed to accurately gauge the speed at which Mr. Dawson was travelling, causing her to strike Mr. Dawson’s motorcycle from behind. Mr. Dawson was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Mr. Dawson may not have been wearing all of the state required safety equipment at the time of the incident. Mr. Dawson was declared deceased at the scene by the Shannon County coroner’s office.
Ms. Bowlin was apparently unharmed in the accident, and was released shortly afterward.
