Julian Ramirez Injured after Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes into their Car on I-55 in Ste. Genevieve
Ste. Genevieve, Missouri (January 8, 2018) – A 79-year-old man was injured early Monday morning when another driver slammed into the rear of their vehicle in Ste. Genevieve County.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident took place at around 12:27 a.m. on Interstate 55 at Mile Marker 153.6.
Troopers said 25-year-old Taylor C. Beyatte of Ste. Genevieve was driving a 2016 Honda Civic northbound on Interstate 55 when she fell asleep on the wheel and crashed into the back of a 2006 Chrysler T&C driven in front by 41-year-old Jose Leobardo Cruz Hernandez of Chicago, Illinois.
79-year-old Julian Mijarez Ramirez of Chicago, Illinois, who was a passenger in the Hernandez vehicle, was injured in the crash.
Ramirez was transported to Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
