On Tuesday, August 21, Jim Dumond, Jewell Clark, and Elizabeth Haynes were all injured in a multi-vehicle accident on US-60, near Neosho in Newton County.
The accident occurred at approximately 4 PM when Jim Dumond failed to yield while passing through an intersection, causing him to collide with a vehicle operated by Jewell Clark. Both Ms. Clark and her 85-year old passenger, Ms. Haynes, suffered injury in the accident.
According to the official crash report, Mr. Dumond, who is 84 himself, also suffered injury. Both Ms. Clark and Ms. Haynes were wearing their safety belts at the time of the accident. Mr. Dumond was not, and authorities believe this fact may have contributed to his injuries.
Despite this, all parties suffered injuries designated as moderate by emergency medical personnel, and all parties were transported to area hospitals for further medical observation and treatment.
No other drivers or occupants were injured in the incident.
