Man Hospitalized after Newton County Car Crash on Highway Y
Newton County, Missouri (January 17, 2018) – A man was hospitalized on Wednesday morning after a vehicle slid on an icy Newton County road and collided with his vehicle, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at around 6:20 a.m. on Highway Y, about seven miles of Racine.
Troopers said Shawn T. Addington, 21, of Neosho was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Highway Y when he crossed the centerline on the ice-covered roadway and collided with a 2012 Nissan Versa, driven by James A. Wilson, 49, also of Neosho.
Wilson suffered moderate injuries and was rushed to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
No one else was injured.
Troopers said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
