Imran Umar and Dennis Eucker Injured in Car-Semi-Truck Collision on I-39 near Tonica
Tonica, Illinois (January 4, 2018) – Two drivers were injured on Wednesday morning when one of them lost control due to slick road conditions and crossed lanes near Tonica.
According to Illinois State Police, the collision took place at around 10:01 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, on Interstate 39, approximately one mile north of Tonica exit.
Police said 28-year-old Imran Y. Umar of Chicago, was driving southbound on I-39 in his car when he lost control and traveled through the median into the northbound lanes. The car crashed into the back of a semi-trailer, whose driver was identified as 61-year-old Dennis Eucker of Janesville, Wisconsin.
Emergency crews with the Tonica Fire Rescue were called to the scene and transported both drivers to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police charged Umar with wrong use of driving lane.
