Franklin Alford killed in Miller County big-rig accident

Missouri State Highway Patrol

On Monday, June 25, Franklin Alford was killed in a multi-car accident on Highway 17 near the Saline Road intersection. The accident began at approximately 2:00 pm when the first vehicle, a timber truck operated by Greg E. Matthis, 46, of Oak Ridge, IL, crossed the center line and was struck by the second vehicle, a dump truck operated by Jonathon L. Hensley, 35, of Clarksburg.

The collission caused vehicle one’s load to come loose, and logs began to spill across the highway. One of these logs struck vehicle three, Mr. Franlin Alford’s vehicle, forcing him from the road.

Another log also struck a car operated by Seth C. Graves, though Mr. Graves suffered only relatively minor injuries. Mr. Alford was declared dead at the scene by the Miller County coroner. All other parties were unhurt.

It is always unfortunate when a traffic accident ends in the loss of a life. We at the law offices of Kevin J. Roach extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the parties involved.
