Esteban Diaz and Kelsey Winkeljohn Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash in North Kansas City
North Kansas City, Missouri (December 20, 2017) – Two people were injured Wednesday morning when two vehicles collided on I-35 in North Kansas City, according to an MSHP report.
The crash took place at about 11:18 a.m. on the southbound I-35 north of MO-210.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2008 Lexus LS460, driven by Esteban C. Diaz, 28, of Kansas City, tried to overtake and rear-ended a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Christopher F. Winkeljohn.
The Lexus then skidded off the roadway, struck a guardrail and bounced back into the roadway where it overturned. The Jeep also went off the roadway, overturned and struck the concrete barrier.
Diaz and a female passenger in Winkeljohn’s Jeep, identified as Kelsey L. Winkeljohn, 16, from Kansas City, sustained minor injuries.
Diaz was transported by Kansas City Fire and EMS to North Kansa City Hospital. Kelsey sought her own treatment, authorities said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
