Driver Killed and McHenry Woman Injured in Christmas Eve Crash in Wauconda Township
Wauconda Township, Illinois (December 26, 2017) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Wauconda late Sunday night, according to a Lake County Sheriff.
The deadly crash took place at about 10:35 p.m. Sunday, December 24, at Illinois Route 120 and Fisher Road in Wauconda Township.
The responding deputies found a Ford Taurus, which was heading west on Route 120 near Volo, had lost control and slid sideways into the westbound lanes of traffic when it was struck on the passenger’s side by a westbound Nissan Rogue, the Sheriff said.
The male driver of the Taurus was declared deceased at the scene while a 58-year-old McHenry woman, the driver of the Nissan, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital for treatment, police said.
A report said the driver of the Taurus was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
No further details regarding the crash were immediately available.
Authorities launched an investigation into the crash.
