Two New Haven area youths, Drake Yates and Samantha Wideman, were both seriously injured in a crash on Highway 100 west of Route KK.
The accident occurred on Thursday, June 28, at approximately 4:40 in the afternoon. The incident began when Mr. Yates, 19, of New Haven, failed to brake for Ms. Wideman, 21, also of New Haven, as she attempted to make a turn off of the highway.
According to the official Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, both parties were determined to be in serious condition and both had to be rushed to Mercy Hospital-Washington via Franklin County EMS.
Mr. Yates was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, and authorities believe this oversight may have contributed significantly to Mr. Yates’ injuries.
