Denzel Chilcoat, 22, Killed, 2 Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash at 165th Street and Kansas Highway 238
Kansa, Missouri (December 23, 2017) – According to troopers with Kansas Highway Patrol, a man was killed in a collision involving three vehicles Tuesday afternoon in Elwood, Kansas.
The fatal crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of 165th Street and Kansas Highway 238 in front of Snorkel International Inc.
Authorities said that a Ford Focus, driven by Denzel Deion Chilcoat, 22, of St. Joseph, was headed westbound on 165th Street when it failed to stop sign and a dump truck traveling northbound on the highway at the same time.
According to troopers, the Focus drove into the intersection and collided with the dump truck which caused the dump to roll.
A report said the two vehicles then collided with a third car identified a red pickup truck. The Ford Focus and dump truck reportedly came to rest on the side of the road in the ditch.
Chilcoat was declared deceased at the incident scene, and the drivers of the dump truck and the pickup suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment, troopers said.
No charges have been issued.
An investigation into the deadly wreck remained underway.
