Butler County, Missouri (January 13, 2018) – Two Poplar Bluff residents were injured on Friday afternoon when a vehicle lost control and crashed into their car near Harviell.

The MSHP reported that the accident happened on County Road 488 at around 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 12.

52-year-old Deborah R. Root of Poplar Bluff was driving a 2000 Ford F150 westbound on CR 488 when she lost control and the car traveled off the right side of the roadway, flipped and slammed into an eastbound 2005 GMC Sierra that was stopped in the roadway.

The driver of the Sierra, 53-year-old Dennis McElhaney of Poplar Bluff, was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with moderate injuries.

McElhaney’s passenger, 63-year-old Phyllis A. Rommel also of Poplar Bluff, was treated for minor injuries at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

There were no further reports of injuries.

Root was able to drive her vehicle from the scene with minor damage.

McElhaney’s vehicle was towed from the scene with extensive damage.
