Danny Hawthorne Dies after 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 13 in Springfield

Springfield, Missouri (February 26, 2018) –  A man who was injured in a two-vehicle crash north of Springfield Tuesday last week succumbed to injuries three days after the accident, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident took place at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, on Highway 13 at Route O.

The patrol reported that Danny Hawthorne, 38, of St. Joseph, was a passenger in a car which was stopped in the roadway after an initial two-vehicle collision. Hawthorne exited the vehicle in an attempt to help passengers out when he was struck by a sedan.

Hawthorne was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries on Friday, Feb. 23, as per the report.

Two other victims also sustained serious injuries and were both transported to an area hospital for treatment, troopers said.
