Cole Shade Seriously Hurt in Linn County Collision with Tractor-Trailer on U.S. 36

Linn County, Missouri (February 2, 2018) – A 19-year-old Palmyra man was hospitalized after being involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Thursday afternoon in Linn County, MSHP said.

Cole S. Shade was injured in the wreck that took place at around 3:52 p.m. Thursday, February 1, on U.S. Highway 36, approximately 2 miles west of Brookfield.

Patrol troopers reported that Shade was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 behind a 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer and were both traveling westbound on U.S. 36.

The tractor-trailer slowed down for traffic ahead, and Cole failed to control his speed, crashing into the rear of the tractor-trailer.

Cole was transported with serious injuries by the Linn County Ambulance to Pershing Memorial and later transferred by life-flight to the University Hospital in Columbia.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Mathew R. Witt, 30, of Collinsville, Ok., was not injured.

Cole’s Ford was towed from the scene with total damage.
