Jefferson County, Missouri (December 30, 2017) – Two people were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision at an intersection on Us 67 in Jefferson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 4:50 p.m. on Friday, December 29 at the intersection of US Highway 67 and Montauk Drive.

MSHP said Claudia T. Cornman, 37, of Valle Mines was sitting in a 2000 Mazda 626 on westbound Montauk Drive at the intersection of US 67. A 2011 Kia Sorento, driven by Laura Gale, 45, of DeSoto, was traveling northbound on US 67 heading towards Montauk Drive when she pulled the vehicle to the right side of the road to pave way for an emergency vehicle.

Cornman then entered into the path of the Kia as Gale was attempting to get back onto the roadway and the Kia hit the left side of Cornman’s Mazda.

Troopers said Gale was wearing a seatbelt but Cornman was not.

Cornman and Gale sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson.

The two vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
