Christopher Follett Killed in 7-Vehicle Crash on I-290 in Elmhurst
Elmhurst, Illinois (March 2, 2018) – The authorities have revealed the identity of the person who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Elmhurst on Thursday afternoon.
The man was identified as Christopher Follett, 37, of Munster, Indiana.
The fatal crash occurred at around 2 p.m. March 1, on Interstate 290.
According to the authorities, at least seven vehicles were involved in the incident.
A 2016 Kenworth semi-trailer, a 2004 Chrysler sedan, a 2013 International semi-trailer and a 2009 Peterbilt semi-trailer were reportedly traveling in the far right lane when the driver of the Kenworth semi-trailer failed to reduce speed and slammed into the Chrysler.
The impact of the crash pushed the Chrysler underneath the International semi-trailer. This triggered a chain reaction collision.
Follett, who was driving the Chrysler, was killed in the collision.
Two drivers were taken to Elmhurst Hospital and another to Loyola University Medical Center, none with life-threatening injuries.
Other motorists were treated at the scene and released.
All the eastbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway were closed for several hours to facilitate clearing operations.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
