Ottawa, Illinois (March 6, 2018) – An Ottawa woman sustained injuries in a car versus truck crash Monday afternoon in Ottawa, as per a local news source.

The accident happened at around 1:52 p.m. March 5, on Interstate 80, a mile east of Route 23.

According to the police, a truck operated by 27-year-old Sergi Onyshchenko of Middleboro, Mass, was parked on the right shoulder of eastbound Interstate 80 when a car driven by 57-year-old Cheryl Shannon of Ottawa struck the rear end of the truck.

The Illinois Department of Transportation shut down the eastbound lanes at Route 23.

Shannon sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital, as per state police. Onyshchenko was not injured

Shannon was charged with improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
