Barton County, Missouri (February 6, 2018)  – An 8-year-old boy was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle backing out of a driveway on Monday morning in Barton County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident took place at around 7:25 a.m. Monday, February 5 in the 550 block of East U.S. 160, approximately 4 miles east of Lamar.

Troopers said Chad M. Wolfe, 35, of Lamar, was backing out of a driveway when he struck the boy, identified as Braden M. Wolfe, 8, also of Lamar.

Braden suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Barton County Memorial, then later transferred to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City.

Chad was not injured in the crash.
