Dade County, Missouri (January 17, 2018) – An elderly driver was hospitalized with serious injuries following a collision with a train on Tuesday in Springfield, Dade County, according to Missouri Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, in Springfield.

According to The Missouri Highway Patrol, Bob Bishop, 86, of Greenfield, Missouri was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Pickup when the car slid onto the tracks and into the path of the train.

Bishop sustained serious injuries and was airlifted To Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment, according to investigators.

Authorities said Bishop was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
