Herrin, Illinois (January 3, 2018)– Authorities have identified two southern Illinois women who were killed in a two-car crash in Herrin on Saturday as Ashley A. Beck, 31, of Herrin and Amber A. Mitchell, 26, of Johnson City.
The deadly crash took place at about 1 a.m. Saturday, December 30, on the 13th Street at East Herrin Road.
According to a preliminary investigation report, Beck was driving a Jeep Compass and fled from Herrin Police officers when she hit a Jeep Liberty driven by Mitchell.
Beck was declared deceased at the scene by the Williamson County coroner while Mitchell was transported to a Herrin hospital where she pronounced dead, authorities said.
Mitchell’s car had an 11-month-old girl occupant who was also taken to a hospital and released after receiving treatment, as per a report.
An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
