Clay County, Missouri (January 2, 2018) – Two people were left nursing injuries when a vehicle without headlights rear-ended another on Interstate 35 in Clay County early Monday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the accident happened at around 3:00 a.m. Monday, January 1, on I-35 at Mile Marker 22.8.

Police said a 2014 Ford Focus without headlights was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on I-35 when it crashed into the back of a 2012 Nissan Armada.

The driver of the Ford, Andrew G. Prewitt, 31, of Holt, was hospitalized at Liberty Hospital with serious injuries.

A passenger in the Nissan, Hannah L. Ireland, 21, of Cameron, was treated at North Kansas City Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, Chantel N. Linton, 35, of Cameron, was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene with the Ford sustaining total damage and the other, moderate.
