Andre Beckwith Killed, Woman Injured in 5-Vehicle Crash on Lincoln Highway in Matteson

Matteson, Illinois (March 7, 2018) – A 60-year-old man was fatally injured and a woman hospitalized following a five-vehicle crash Friday in south suburban Matteson, according to a Matteson Police.

The deadly wreck happened at around 6:05 p.m. Friday, March 2, on Lincoln Highway.

Authorities said Andre Beckwith of Park Forest was operating a 2007 Mercedes east on Lincoln Highway, approaching Central Avenue when the Mercedes crashed into the back of another vehicle and then sideswiped three other vehicles.

Due to the collision, the Mercedes’ door fell off and Beckwith fell out onto the median but the vehicle kept moving to another 200 or 300 yards.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, was declared deceased at about 6:52 p.m. at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields and an autopsy determined that the man died as a result of multiple injuries from the crash hence his death was ruled an accident.

Authorities said a woman also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Franciscan Health Olympia Fields for treatment.

No one else was injured in the wreck.
