55-Year-Old Man Killed in Bicycle Accident on Route 12 in Fox Lake

Fox Lake, Illinois (December 27, 2017) – A 55-year-old man was killed when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle on Route 12 in Fox Lake Tuesday morning, according to a report.

The incident happened at around 7:44 a.m. on Tuesday, December 26 on Route 12 near Riverside Island Drive.

According to Fox Lake Police Department, the bicyclist was riding in the center median when he was struck by a vehicle driven southbound on Route 12 by a 46-year-old woman.

Police said the bicyclist died at the scene of the crash.

The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of the next-of-kin.

The crash caused a section of Route 12 to be closed as investigators examined the scene.

Details of whether there were any charges filed were unavailable.
