On Sunday, May 13, at approximately 6:30 am Michael Collins and Michael Ashworth were both injured in a car accident on Missouri 47 at the intersection of Shelter Drive. The wreck began when Mr. Collins, 46, Winfield, was driving slowly eastbound on 47 following another vehicle that had it’s emergency indicators on. Mr. Ashworth, 53, also of Winfield, quickly pulled up behind the slow moving vehicles and attempted to pass them. He struck Mr. Collins as Collins attempted to turn. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, both parties suffered moderate to severe injuries and had to be transported by EMS for further treatment.
