Helen Lomas, John Lomas, Jimmy Dinwiddie, Tammy Dinwiddie, and Edna Hoskins, were all injured in a traffic accident on Highway 39. The accident occurred at approximately 10 am on Sunday, May 13. The wreck began when John Lomas, 95, of Mount Vernon, pulled out of a private driveway and into the path of Edna Hoskins, 73, of Miller, MO. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, all 5 suffered injuries though those suffered by Mr. and Mrs. Lomas were most severe. 11 year old Jimmy R. Dinwiddie, of Springfield, also suffered moderate injuries. All parties were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and treatment, and all parties were wearing safety belts at the time of the accident.
