At approximately 1 pm on Monday May 7th, Melvin K. Ryan, 88, of New London, and Wendy S. Alexander, 68, of Louisiana, MO, were both injured when they became involved in a car accident on U.S. 61. The crash occurred when Ms. Alexander was stopped at a red light and Mr. Ryan failed to break in time, rear ending her. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, both parties were wearing their safety belts at the time of the incident. Both Mr. Ryan and Ms. Alexander were moderately injured, and they were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
