4 Injured in Jacksonville IDOT Truck Crash on Morton Avenue
3 IDOT Workers, Driver Injured in Crash on Morton Avenue in Jacksonville
Jacksonville, Illinois (February 27, 2018) –Three Illinois Department of Transportation workers and a driver were injured in a crash in Jacksonville Monday afternoon, according to Illinois State Police.
The accident took place at around 3:15 p.m. Monday, February 26, on Morton Avenue near Mobil Road.
The state police stated that 86-year-old Dale V. Gibbs, 86, of South Jacksonville, was operating a car on Morton Avenue when he failed to slow down and hit two workers who were standing in the road.
Gibbs also reportedly hit the rear of an IDOT pickup truck that was parked on the road.
Three IDOT workers sustained injuries in the crash, including the driver of the IDOT truck.
One of the workers, a 64-year-old Chandlerville man, suffered serious injuries and remains in the hospital and the other two workers, David L. Nergenah, 67, and Bruce M. Bartlett, 62, both of Jacksonville, were treated and released, the state police said.
Gibbs also sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
