One Person Killed in Independence Car Crash on I-70
Independence, Missouri (December 22, 2017) – One person was killed in a fatal two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 70 in Independence.
According to Independence Police Department, the crash occurred just after 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19 on Interstate 70 west of Noland Road.
Police said a Toyota and a Mercedes collided in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.
After the crash the Mercedes came to a stop at the side of the road and the Toyota rolled off the roadway and overturned.
The driver of the Toyota was ejected from the vehicle and rushed to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
No injuries were reported from the Mercedes.
Details on the identity of the deceased were not released.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
