Elmhurst, Illinois (January 13, 2018) – one person was injured in a two-vehicle collision Friday morning in Elmhurst, Elmhurst Police Deputy said.

The accident happened on Friday, January 12, on St. Charles Road, just west of York High School in Elmhurst.

According to a police report, a van and a truck were both headed east on St. Charles at the Canadian National rail tracks when the Van rear-ended the truck.

The driver of the van was trapped inside the vehicle following the crash and had to be extricated by Elmhurst Fire Department personnel and taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with significant injuries, as per a report.

Both vehicles had a single occupant, according to a report.

St. Charles Road was temporarily closed as a result of the collision and reopened at around 2 p.m., officials said.
