Katie Torrance Hospitalized in Kirkwood Two-Car Crash on US 34
Katie Torrance, 26, Hurt in Traffic Crash on US 34 in Kirkwood
Kirkwood, Illinois (December 20, 2017) – According to the Illinois State Police, an Iowa woman was injured in a traffic collision Tuesday morning in Kirkwood.
The police officers identified the woman as Katie Torrance, 26, of Burlington, Iowa.
The incident transpired at around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 19 on U.S. 34, about 0.4 miles east of 20th Street.
Troopers stated that Torrance was driving a Grand Cherokee headed west when she changed lanes to overtake a semi-trailer driven by Craig Zoellner, 48, of Van Buren. Torrance failed to return to her lane after overtaking the semi and crashed with another semi-trailer driven by 46-year-old Christopher Wetzel, of Alexis. Torrance’s car then got into a ditch and was overturned. Zoellner’s semi sustained damages from the flying debris.
Torrance was shuttled to OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Torrance was ticketed for improper lane usage.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
